GREAT NEWS! Schermerhorn Park, of Galena has been chosen as one of the 24 finalist for the 8 Wonders of Kansas. In order for the park to become one of the final 8 the public has to vote. If chosen as one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas, the park and city will receive country wide recognition which will encourage new visitors to come see for themselves.

You can vote on-line or by paper ballot. Voting ends Feb 17th so vote soon.  You may pick up paper ballots at the Sentinel office, Galena City Hall, Galena school board office and other businesses in town.

Then click on "click here to vote." Be sure to check the Schermerhorn Park box.  (They are listed in alphabetical order so scroll down to the bottom of the page.) Others sites that are in our area include Elk River Hiking Trail, Cross Timbers State Lake, Mined Land wildlife area. Wouldn't it be great if all the sites in SEK would win!!!
